| The 7th & 10th Ward Yard was commissioned by the CIty of Chicago's Dept. of General Services. The new 4,680 s.f. $3.8 M building houses the offices for both the city's 7th & 10th Ward Yards. It serves as a meeting oint for the city's streets and sanitation workers. The project is LEED Gold certified and includes an array of sustainable features. The site boasts native and adaptive landscaping as well as a detention pond to help assist with site drainage. The building is powered by vertical axis wind turbines and uses solar panels for domestic hot water. Key interior features include the use of linoleum tile as a renewable recourse flooring material, and low VOC paint finishes. The building HVAC is fully automated being able to monitor the interior and exterior conditions adapting as necessary thus providing energy savings and efficiency. |
